When a company performs well and I interview its CEO on CNBC, I consider the stock's performance before fashioning my questions. Maybe the company had been poorly run and the guest is a new CEO who is turning it around. Once Wood picks a stock, that company can do no wrong, which is code for she can do no wrong. And take it from me, an old Mexican restaurant veteran, it travels better than any other restaurant chain. We should have just bought Dutch Bros. Home prices are falling in parts of Florida and Texas even as they soar nationally. Sale prices only dropped in 15 of 221 metro areas last quarter, and five were in those states. High prices, steeper mortgage rates, and supply catching up with demand help explain the declines. AdvertisementHome prices are falling in parts of Florida and Texas as buyers tap out and supply catches up with demand. AdvertisementThe takeaway is that a combination of sky-high prices, steeper mortgage rates and other costs like insurance squeezing buyers' budgets, and supply catching up with demand has resulted in prices flatlining or falling in parts of Florida and Texas, bucking the national trend.

There's a growing risk of a stock market melt-up, according to market veteran Ed Yardeni. Yardeni said the return of the "Fed Put" means stocks could soar on the anticipation and realization of interest rate cuts. But stock market melt-ups are rarely sustainable and are often followed by a painful decline. With it comes increased risk of a stock market meltup," Yardeni said. For investors, the question is whether or not a potential stock market melt-up and subsequent decline will happen at prices a lot higher or lower from current levels.

Since 1940, the state has voted for the Republican presidential nominee in every election except for 1964 and 2008. And former President Donald Trump is virtually assured of winning the state this November, as he also did in 2016 and 2020. But an interesting thing happened on Tuesday: Trump won the GOP presidential primary, but former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley still won over 20 percent of the vote, despite her March exit from the race. With nearly all precincts reporting their results, Trump earned 461,663 votes (78.3 percent) to Haley's 128,168 votes (21.7 percent). But many suburban voters are also concerned about issues like the preservation of democracy, abortion rights, and environmental policy, which all strongly favor Biden.

That's because inflation is set to fall "dramatically" through the rest of the year, Lee predicted. AdvertisementInvestors should be buying stocks this month, as inflation is bound for a steep decline for the rest of the year, according to Fundstrat's head of research Tom Lee. Real-time price declines will eventually catch up with the official inflation report. High rates risk tipping the economy into a recession and sparking market volatility, as investors, banks, and consumers grapple with a higher cost of borrowing. It is quite high, and as you know, it's putting a lot of pressure on regional banking ... the cost of money is quite high," Lee said.

They own the Vanguard 500 Index Fund Admiral Shares Fund (VFIAX), the Vanguard Information Technology Index Fund ETF (ETF, VGT), and the Fidelity MSCI Information Technology Index ETF (ETF, FTEC). Note that ETFs, like index funds, offer an easy way to diversify and bundle several securities into one investment. Since index funds are passively managed, they typically have lower costs than actively managed funds — and, historically, they outperform active funds.
